You go, girl

A (((singer))) and (((actress))) by the name of Janelle Monae- yeah, I've never heard of her either- went and scored an EPIC feminist own-goal recently when she argued that women should withhold sex from their men, until said men start respecting them:

Singer-actress Janelle Monáe believes the only way men will begin respecting women again is if they are denied sex.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Monáe argues that “until every man is fighting for our rights, we should consider stopping having sex.”

“I love men. But evil men? I will not tolerate that. You don’t deserve to be in my presence. If you’re going to own this world and this is how you’re going to rule this world, I am not going to contribute anymore until you change it,” she continued, adding that “people have to start respecting the vagina.”

Monáe has previously claimed that practicing feminism should be “part of black masculinity,” and called on men to “help us fight some of the evil things that have been done to us.”

So let's see if I've gotten this down properly.

This singer/actress, who is a woman who has apparently achieved some success, basically just argued that women should stop having sex with men until they are given full rights and equality.

In other words, the only thing that gives a woman strength, rights, power, and equality, is her genitals.

Let's just pause and savour that for a moment. A woman literally just argued that women can only get their way by selling their bodies.

As Eduardo the Magnificent pointed out in the comments- does this bint not realise that Lysistrata was a comedy?

And people wonder why even most women these days don't take feminism seriously. As an ideology, it has managed to shove its own head completely up its own arse.

The impressionable young Ms. Monae seems to think that having lady-bits entitles her to be a blithering idiot and insist that she has the right to tell men how to act.

To which I have one simple response:

Indeed, I think that this particular sort of stupidity is more rampant and common than any of us realise. It is entirely possible that many of the people you know, especially the couples that you know, suffer from the terrible affliction of an overly mouthy, extremely opinionated woman who doesn't quite get that, without men, women wouldn't be in a position to do much of anything.

And if said woman insists on denying her man sex as a method of enforcing compliance with her frankly idiotic impulses and dictates, I suggest that the man in such a relationship simply go out and get himself a his-and-her set of shirts like this one:

Yes, it might cost you your woman. But, let's be honest, any woman who tries to use sex as a weapon needs to know that there are limits to just how far that kind of option can be taken.

And nothing breaks through a shit test quite like a shirt that says "Shitlord".

I guess nobody ever told her Lysistrata was a comedy....

    1. And a very thoroughly modern send-up of feminism, written some 2,500 years ago.
