The Rattlehead rises again

Went to the concert (10 years ago!). Got the shirt.
It would appear that MEGADETH is now host to none other than Brazilian guitar virtuoso Kiko Loureiro from ANGRA:
As BLABBERMOUTH.NET exclusively reported as a "rumor" on March 14, it has now been made official that Brazilian guitarist Kiko Loureiro, best known for his work with ANGRA, has joined MEGADETH
Says MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine: "I first met Kiko around 8 years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then, I've come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I'm deeply encouraged by his depth and talent."
He continued: "Very few MEGADETH alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko
"As Frank Sinatra says, 'the best is yet to come!'"
In addition to Mustaine and bassist David Ellefson, the recording lineup for MEGADETH's new album includes LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler
In a statement, Mustaine called Chris "a tremendous talent" and "an amazing person" who is "going to bring a new level of excitement and energy to MEGADETH that the fans are going to lose their minds over."
Adler was equally excited about playing with MEGADETH, saying: "I'm coming into this on fire. There is an incredible amount of respect, but the goal here is to make the very best thrash album we can — not just throw names in the CD booklet or be a 'yes' man. Together, I believe we can do something very special."
And the addition of Chris Adler from LAMB OF GOD is just icing on the cake. MEGADETH now has the single most technically skilled lineup since... well, the Rust in Peace days.

Personally, I don't think MEGADETH will ever exceed the sheer technical brilliance, balls-out aggression, and extraordinary musical blending of speed metal and jazz that resulted from the Poland/Samuelson years. But if any lineup could ever come close to matching Peace Sells as an album, this is it.

Oh and in case you're wondering who this Brazilian berk is that you've never heard of, check this out:

I do think that if they're going to hire Kiko Loureiro into the band, they should also hire Aquiles Priester. That guy isn't just a drummer- he's a force of nature:

Admittedly, his extremely technical, polyrhythmic style of drumming isn't really suitable for thrash metal, which is less about musical noodling with weird time signatures that would need a scientific calculator to figure out and crazy drum fills and more about making you snap your own neck through self-inflicted whiplash. For example:

But hey, this Chris Adler bloke isn't half bad either. Check out what he was up to with his old band:

Basically, I expect the next MEGADETH album to be an incredibly technical thrashterpiece... though precisely how long this lineup will last is an interesting question. Thrash metal, after all, isn't really Kiko Loureiro's style of music.
